Crash of Russian Passenger Plane Near Tynda – No Survivors Expected

Russian rescue services have located the wreckage of an Angara Airlines An-24 aircraft that disappeared near its destination in the far-eastern Amur region. The plane, carrying 48 people—including five children—lost contact with radar approximately 16km from Tynda airport after taking off from Blagoveshchensk.

A Russian civil aviation helicopter later spotted the burning fuselage on a wooded hillside. According to initial reports, no one is believed to have survived. Rescue teams are working to access the remote crash site, which is difficult to reach due to dense forest.

Authorities are investigating possible causes, including pilot error in poor weather or a technical malfunction. The aircraft, nearly 50 years old, had passed a recent technical inspection but had been involved in four incidents since 2018. The An-24 model has a history of accidents, including a 2019 runway incident and a 2011 crash in Siberia that killed seven people.
